Orange Performing Arts was founded in 2023 by Nik, who was once known to ‘tread the boards’ as a professional Musical Theatre Actor, but is now a Deputy Headteacher of a Primary School. What makes OPA unique is that it perfectly fuses the joy of learning the disciplines of singing, dancing and acting with the importance of having a set curriculum and targets to work towards. OPA Academy was set up in order to provide children a fun experience of Performing Arts, removing the pressures of auditioning or competing with their peers in order to allow children to flourish and enjoy every second of their sessions. Whether children attend for fun, as a hobby or with their sights set on stardom, OPA Academy will nurture them and provide them with the skills they need in order to be successful in later life. Nik has created The OPA Way, the ethos of the Academy:
THE OPA WAY
Be Creative · Be Confident · Be Collaborative
-
Be Creative
All children are encouraged to be creative at OPA Academy. Whether that’s improvising a scene, choreographing their own piece or adding ad-libs to a harmony line, children are supported to bring their own flair to lessons. From our background in Primary Education, we know that children learn best when they take ownership of their learning. That’s why we give all children the chance to influence the songs taught, music chosen to dance to and sections of scripts that are performed. These life lessons are vital for children’s future development and confidence.
-
Be Confident
Confidence is a skill that will stand all children in good stead as they grow and face the challenges of life. Here at OPA, we give children the skills to be able to approach things with confidence. This starts with Performing Arts, but these skills can be applied to school work and other areas of life. In essence, when children gain a sense of themselves and how they fit into the world, they develop the confidence to take on new challenges and become ready for any challenges they may face in the future..

Be Collaborative
Cheesy or not, teamwork really does make the dream work! Here at OPA, we teach children the transferable skills necessary to work with others in a collegiate, respectful and positive way. Whether learning to ‘blend’ their voice with others to create a harmonious sound, working as a group to choreograph 4 counts of 8, or support ing their fellow actors during an improv scene, children are developing life-long skills that they can use long into adulthood. We teach children to respect their peers, respect their teachers and to respect the craft of performing.
